Great.com interviews STEMM About Changing Lives Through Christ
Ryan Nurse from Great.com interviewed STEMM as part of their 'Great.com Talks With...' podcast. This series is an antidote to negative news stories that aims to shed light on organizations and experts whose work is making a positive impact on the world.
Despite being a third-world country, Tanzania has so much potential. Sadly, opportunities come hard in the country, and that's something we can do about. In this episode, Ryan talked with Dr. Steve Meyer from STEMM.
We are a nonprofit organization founded in Sioux City that wants to create a bridge to Tanzania. STEMM stands for Siouxland Tanzania Educational Medical Ministries, and what this essentially means is we’re a series of ministries that offers a wide variety of services to the people of Tanzania. One of our most important services is our orphanages.
We help several orphanages across Tanzania with financial, food, medical, and logistical support. Other services that we offer to Tanzania come in the form of ministries. There's the spiritual ministry, medical ministry, education ministry, agriculture ministry, and community development.
Bridging Sioux City with Tanzania
We travel to Tanzania regularly and one of our highest priority is to help Tanzanian children graduate from high school and continue their education abroad. Our work has resulted in a nearly 100% graduation rate - a stark contrast from the 5% graduation rate in Tanzania 25 years ago.
We also help with medicine supply and medical technology innovation. Our innovation unit gives doctors access to medical equipment necessary to treat the people of Tanzania.
