Trip Testimonials

“Only God knows how much this trip has impacted my life. I expected to be challenged and stretched and overwhelmed at times, but I didn’t expect to feel joy and love at the same time. The people of Africa have filled my heart with so much love and I didn’t even know how far a heart could open until meeting some of the people here.”

“To be honest, I did not know what to expect before leaving for Tanzania. I was just excited for a new experience. However, it turned out to be so much more. Not only have I learned a lot about who I am, I also feel as though I have grown so much in my walk with Christ.”

“Even as the car drives by a small village and you pass a person, even though it’s only for a second, you make eye contact. And in that brief moment you see something beautiful. You see hardship, struggles and fatigue. But in that eye contact, you see a twinkle. And that twinkle represents their happiness through it all. Because these people don’t count on what they don’t have or the things that they want. They count the things that their lives are rich in. And that’s religion, spirit and love. So when I go back, I know it will be next to impossible to find people with the same twinkle in their eyes or to see someone completely grateful for what they have. But instead of me being sad about it, I’m going to do something about it. I’m not going to preach or lecture or make people feel bad about themselves. I’m going to live by example. I see how happy it can make a person and that’s how I’m going to be from here on out. Truly happy for what I have and humble every day. Because it should be God, others, self.”

“The people of this county have done more for me than I could ever do for them. The happiness possessed by these people that have so little is overwhelming! I have seen God’s light shine through a child’s smile who doesn’t know when her next meal will be. Be the change you want to see in the world and God will amaze you!”

“The work that STEMM does at the hospital is phenomenal, but also the constributions to local organizations seem to impact many people. By assisting with food, housing and medical supplies, STEMM assists people to improve their situations.”

“The faith that is present among these people is an example I can personally look up to. They have every reason to doubt God, but instead they praise Him for what they have been given and continue to trust whole-heartedly in Him for tomorrow.”

“I learned to put God first. I learned not to value all the technology and material items that I have in my life. I learned to love life to its fullest with a smile on my face. But most importantly I learned that with God all things are possible, and I learned to love the people of Tanzania.”
